Vintage Sterling Silver Thimble Marked w/ S & Anchor #8

Vintage Adult/Child's Sterling Thimble Marked w/ S & Anchor #8, it measures 1/2" tall x 5/8" across the opening x 3/8" across the top, I am wondering if the Thimble is a Child's or Adult - it seems small. In good used condition, there are a couple small dents near the Sterling mark, it needs polished.
