    Description

This is a good quality, handmade but quite modern Chinese snuff bottle, made of ox bone and polished wood. The main face has a well-drawn design of Buddha sitting cross-legged on a lotus leaf and the reverse shows a well-drawn traditional mountain landscape amongst clouds.
The designs are both really well done.
The technique used is "mishima", where the design is scratch-carved into the bone and then filled with colour. Because the bone is hollow, both the top and bottom are composed of good quality polished wood, which appears to be rosewood.
This bottle is a very attractive display piece. The snuff dipper is carved bone, as was traditional.
Including the stopper, this bottle is nearly 7.5 cm (nearly 3 inches) high, and is 5 cm (2 inches) across at its widest point. I bought this bottle in China in 2007.
Please note, this item is located in Australia, but ebay has listed it as though it is in the USA. So I have set postage as a standard US. But, for buyers in Australia, please contact me for a substantial postage discount.
