VINTAGE 1955 PER LUTKEN FOR HOLMEGAARD DENMARK BIOMORPHIC BOWL. This Scandinavian Modernist shallow bowl was designed by Per Lutken for Holmegaard Denmark in 1955. This handblown biomorphic glass vessel is a pale smoke tint and features a ground-breaking freeform turned up asymmetrical rim. An iconic Per Lutken design. Measures approximately 7-1/4 inches in diameter, 2-3/4 inches high, engraved "Holmegaard 19 PL 55" for Per Lutken monogram and date 1955. In excellent overall condition, expected wear on the underside. One flea-bite nick on the edge, as shown in photos. Distinctive in its soft color and liquid form, the signed handblown pieces he called 'living glass' are highly prized by collectors. This design is uniquely important for 20th century Danish glass collectors. Designed with clean lines for modern living.
